People Fighting Famine

Principles of Incorporation

*We are a community that believes in the complete and utter dignity of each and every human being on planet earth.

*We see human life as a sacred trust that each one of us has a responsibility to safeguard and defend; we believe in investing in people first.

*We believe that it is incumbent on people who have abundance to ensure that food, which is a sacred gift from God meant for all the earth’s inhabitants, to be distributed equitably so that all receive their fair share.

*We believe that part of the equal distribution of God’s bounty is ensuring that peoples that have suffered poverty due to unjust economic systems gain access to good education, and the economic tools that the rest of the world receives.

*We believe in the old fashioned idea of neighbors reaching out and helping neighbors and of putting people before possessions.

*We believe that the starvation of one child anywhere on planet earth is an affront to the dignity of all people everywhere.

Therefore be it resolved, that People Fighting Famine steps forward as a voice and advocate for all the people who lost their lives to the East African Famine of 2011 – 12’, and for those who continue to be devastated by its horrific consequences and the humanitarian emergency that continues. We invite others of good will to partner with us in reaching out to neighbors in Ethiopia, Somalia and Kenya not only with aid for this present crisis, but with resolve and resources to work at ending the vicious cycle of famines in East Africa. Even as we endeavor to tell “their story” today in hopes that neighbors will pitch in to help, (Realizing that their story is part of our story as well), we also turn our sights to tomorrow realizing the vital importance and the role that education plays in providing the kind of leaders who will one day end famine once and for all.
