While this catastrophic event has been downgraded and we are no longer fighting a famine, we are committed to education and advocacy that prevents another famine anywhere in the world.

MISSION STATEMENT

We are dedicated to telling the story of the famine afflicting our sisters and brothers who are starving to death in East Africa
.

Who We Are

We are faithful people of the Mahoning Valley who have been moved to tears time and again by the famine in Ethiopia, Somalia, and Kenya.  After sponsoring a three day Vigil in downtown Youngstown to raise awareness of the famine, several participants felt called to do more...and so People Fighting Famine was born.  Our primary goal is to raise awareness of this crisis and to direct folks to whichever organization they may want to contribute to to help provide relief.  We do not claim to have all the answers, in fact we often have  more questions than we know what to do with, but we wanted, we needed, we felt called to do something.  Our first event, A Rally for East Africa, was held on Sunday, August 13 at the Ursuline Center in Canfield.
Over 75 people participated (pictures can be found at the bottom of the page here.)  Our presentation is portable and we would be happy to come and share it with you!
